It's Watching....

~The Eye is Upon You!~

When I saw these beads in a pile by my friend and Fireseed.etsy.com artist Louise Ingram, I immediately knew I had to step outside the box a bit and make something cool. With Halloween coming up, this is a perfect bead, but no matter the time of year, this is a one of a kind bracelet for a one of a kind person! I took a large black based focal bead with a blue eye and surrounded it with 2 smaller red based eye beads, and then used two yellow beads afterwards. One yellow bead has an eye, the other does not. To finish the bracelet, I used a sterling silver lobster clasp, silver plate jump rings and a slumped red eye bead. I can't get these exact beads again, which is what I love about working with a local artist. The pieces I create with Louise's beads will never be recreated, and best of all, these pieces are still affordable!!
This piece will soon be available on the Etsy store - click the Etsy box to the right to check out all my wonderful (and affordable!) goodies. Remember, the sale only lasts until the end of this month - time is running out so hurry to my Etsy store, and use the coupon code "LITT" in the 'notes to seller' to get your 20% off!
Have fun!

A Little Bit of This, A Little Bit of That...

~New Interchangeable Earrings Together, Top and Apart, Below~

I have wanted to list these for a while now as they have been sitting on my work desk for about 3 weeks or so, but I never seemed to get around to it. I wasn't sure if people would go for it or not. Then I spoke with my friend Louise (of Fireseed fame) and she asked me if I made ear wires/earrings that were removable. I am taking that as a sign that maybe some other people would be interested too, so here we go! I made these sterling silver ear wires so that while you wear them, the bead dangle unit (here with pearls, Swarovski crystals and silver beads) cannot come off. You have to take the ear wire out of your ear to be able to remove the bead unit. This makes it so much more safe so you aren't nearly as likely to lose the dangle part! I'll be listing these today, as well as a few other dangle units so you can mix and match. Check it out! www.littlestudiojewels.etsy.com
I'm also working on a few other things (when am I not!) so I'll keep you updated as those come to fruition.
Have a great one!

Check This Out!

~A New Bracelet I Call My "Impressionist Lampwork Bracelet"~

I am so fortunate to have just met the wonderful lampwork bead maker Louise Ingram who lives near me (see her Etsy page and her Website). She made me some gorgeous beads earlier this month (they are still waiting for just the right silver beads to be assembled into something fantastic) and we had talked back and forth about doing some trades so I could get beads and she could get jewellery findings made by me. I am so lucky that she came over yesterday, as she brought her "unique design" beads (beads that turned out differently from her original intentions) to show me. The beads in the bracelet above were actually in this pile and I couldn't believe my luck when I found enough of them to make this gorgeous bracelet! We had a lovely afternoon chatting about beading ideas, she got some ear wires made by me and I got a whack-load of gorgeous glass goodies! I'll keep you posted on the other fantastic creations I make with these beads. Visit her website for even more incredible creations!
I created this bracelet by combining these beads (I think they look like an impressionist painting - Monet eat your heart out! If he could have made glass beads this was what he would have created!) with beautiful clear Swarovski crystals, gold plate beads and jump rings, gold filled beads and lobster clasp. I finished it off with a dangle of one of the beads I had left over (you can't just leave the little guy homeless) for a little extra sparkle. This is just stunning and ONE OF A KIND!!! Get it while you can! I'll be listing this little gem on my Etsy store today, so check it out - www.littlestudiojewels.etsy.com The 20% off sale still applies!!
Also check out a new section soon to come where I'll be selling hand crafted findings and beads that I haven't used in a little bit but are still fabulous to use.
That's all for now, see you later!

New Jewellery and a Blog Mention!

~Some New, Botanically-Inspired Earrings~

As usual it's been a busy week, though I am in another flare-up with my fibromyalgia, so I'm busy, but slow. I made these new leaf-inspired earrings that you see above, as well as a few other items in the last few days. I will be updating my website to show all the wonderful goodies I have on my Etsy store, and hopefully make a few more items today that I've been meaning to for a while. Of course, I still need to get into my gardens for some much needed weeding as well, so I may not get all that much jewellery made, lol.
The best part of today? Well, a fellow Estian of mine, and a new friend, has blogged about me in the best way! Julie Schuler of My Good Babushka on Etsy, and Mrs. Schuler's Blog has written a post about myself, my charitable donations, and my jewellery! Thank You Julie! She also does beautiful art, and is starting to give some of her sales to charity, so good for you Julie, keep up the beautiful work!
I also wanted to mention that I have added a new feature to all of my blogs: the follower feature. This is how I can see who (and how many) are reading my blogs, and it is a great way to find people interested in the same things you are. So if you read this blog, sign up as a follower on the right!
Thanks for visiting, we'll see you tomorrow!

Falling For Fall Leaves

~Another Fall-Inspired Necklace~

I was inspired for this piece while on a walk with my dog. We live in a forested area and right now all the leaves are in various states of changing and falling. It is absolutely gorgeous, especially when the sun hits the canopy at just the right angle, bathing everything in golden autumnal light. Just such an occurrence happened earlier this week during my walk and even the dog seemed intrigued. The leaves all changed from yellows, reds, oranges and greens to luminescent variations of themselves. I immediately thought of this piece and knew I had to make it as soon as I got home. Unfortunately, this was at the beginning of our walk and I knew that I couldn't disappoint the dog, so we walked our walk, and then upon returning home I began to create.
I took 14karat gold filled wire, sterling silver wire, and non tarnish copper wire and formed various leaf shapes - a maple in gold, a birch in silver and an oak in copper. I then hammered each leaf to get it to lay flat and have texture. Then I suspended them from 14karat gold filled chain and added a green tree agate bead, amber nugget, and small garnet bead for added color and texture. This is a larger piece - great for the plunging neckline of an evening dress, or just a nice tank top. It is for sale on my Etsy store now, so check it out by clicking the link to the right.
Everything is still 20% off until the end of September so get it while you can!
Take care,
Meghann

New Dangle Earrings

~Gold, Amber and Garnet Drop Earrings~

The fall's symphony of colors are out in full force here in my forest and I can't help but be inspired by them; the reds, golds and oranges are so rich, warm and inviting. I created these drop earrings by hand forming 14karat gold filled wire into oval shapes and hammering them flat. I then hung amber chips and small garnet beads from the center of each drop. So pretty!
I'm also working on new interchangeable earrings so watch out for those! They are so handy - like having many pairs of earrings in one!
I'm off to create more goodies for you - back tomorrow with more!

With Colder Weather Comes...Fall Jewellery!

~Gold, Autumn Stone, Carnelian and African Wood Necklace~

It is getting cooler, the leaves are changing, and new inspiration seems to come from every glance outside. Chunky jewellery is in, and I made this necklace just in time it seems! I took a beautiful faceted autumn stone drop pendant (yes, autumn stone is its real name!) and I caged it in 14karat gold filled wire, adding small scroll details on both sides of the pendant. I love this stone because of the wonderful colour striations in it - here a sandy brown, there a bit of cream, and a dark chocolate mahogany streak for added oomph. Then I strung it from a necklace dripping with autumn red carnelian stones, gold plated beads and dark brown African wood round beads. I then finished it off with a 14karat gold filled toggle clasp. This has all of fall's most beautiful colours in all of its rich looking glory! It's also affordable - and one of a kind! I used my last African wood round beads on this necklace, which I'm a bit sad by, as they are so versatile, but that just means I'll have to go shopping for more! This piece is for sale on my Etsy store, as are a few other goodies not mentioned here. And, until the end of the month, all my items are 20% off when you use the coupon code "LITT" in the notes to seller when you purchase!! Take advantage now and get a head start on your holiday shopping, saving money and time all at once!
Keep checking here, I'll be posting more often to keep you in the loop!

Lots of New FibroAware Jewellery!

EarringsBraceletNecklaceRing
~All of the Beautiful New FibroAware Jewellery~

So yes, I've been busy! Etsy teams and making jewellery and birthdays and so much more, I am surprised I haven't been absent on the blogger front for longer. That being said, I am so excited to show you my new additions to my FibroAware line of jewellery. This line is made to shed light on those suffering from Fibromyalgia, as I myself do every day. Many are unable to work outside their homes (myself included), and some are unable to work at all. This line is devoted to pledging 10% of the total sales before taxes to charities that help those with Fibromyalgia. Not only is it a good cause, this jewellery is gorgeous too! These newest items are made from sterling silver wire and amethyst, or other purple beads, as purple is the colour for fibromyalgia awareness. The earrings are made from dark amethyst bead drops, and Czech glass fire polish beads in "crystal" for the center of the earrings. I used the crystal to represent the tears that we sometimes shed, and the fibromyalgia purple amethyst to represent the community of fibromyalgia sufferers and supporters rallying around. The newest bracelet and necklace are made from two types of amethyst - light and dark in such beautiful, contrasting shades, it makes you wonder that something can come in so many different, and beautiful, colours. The light shade is almost a drop-style of bead in that it is quite long in relation to its width, and you are able to carefully spin them so that it can look very sleek with the beads facing one direction, or edgy with them facing different directions. The dark shade is a great contrast. The sterling silver beads make the whole thing really pop! The ring is made from sterling silver wire, hand coiled into a Celtic style of ring with small amethyst nuggets nestled between two Swarovski clear Crystal bicones. Very sparkly and pretty, this is made to be on your thumb, but I can make similar ones to fit your fingers.
All of these (and more to come!) are available on my Etsy store at: www.littlestudiojewels.etsy.com - Don't forget that between September 15-30 Etsy for Animals is having their birthday bash and you will bet 20% off everything in our participating stores with the coupon code "LITT"! Start your holiday shopping then and you will have it out of the way in good time, supporting local artists - and saving money while you're at it.
I hope you visit and thank you!
