Arwen needed her yearly checkup, and after finding a tick on her last month (YUCK!), and scheduling difficulties, we finally got her a vet appointment yesterday.
Usually VERY shy with the vets (think cowering and shaking in the corner of the room, trying to blend in with the light colored paint of the walls), she was much less shy (no shaking, or trying to blending into the wall, she came when called after a bit of cajoling), and after getting her three needles (kennel cough, Lepto, and Rabies), getting poked, prodded, palpated, and getting blood drawn to test for heart worm and Lyme disease, she actually tried to give kisses to the vet! I was also informed that I did, in fact, get all of the tick out of her (huge sigh of relief), and that the lump that appeared near her spine is not cancer, but actually a sebaceous cyst (sort of a glorified pimple in an oil duct - if you squeeze it, stuff comes out, but I'm NOT doing anything of the sort, EWWWW). She doesn't mind it being touched, in fact she actually likes getting scratched near the spot, so that is good :)
After we got her home, she was plain tuckered out (see photo, above). We got a call a few hours later with the blood test results and.....She's healthy! No heart worm or Lyme disease, despite being bitten by a tick (again, yuck!). Though Lyme disease can take a few months to show up, Arwen is still her regular, plucky self so I am confident she'll be fine. She also got her Revolution last night so the is all healthy and ready for whatever life throws at her...now if only I could cut her nails without problems, LOL!
Have a great Tuesday,
Yay! We're glad to hear the check-up was successful - although the cats send their sympathies to Arwen for having to go to the V.E.T.!
ReplyDeleteAw, that is such good news about your dog. I love my two as if they were my babies. I guess they are fur babies!
ReplyDeleteWay to go, Arwen! I am very proud of you. When I go to the vet's, I usually curl up in a tiny little ball and try to become invisible. It does not usually work though.
ReplyDeleteglad she is healthy Meghann - what beautiful white paws she has!!
ReplyDeleteSuch good news about Arwen! She's so cute and it's nice she warmed up to the vet. If you figure out a way to cut her nails in an easy manner, let me know because Sadie does not let us cut hers without a major struggle which we always lose.
ReplyDeleteVery happy for your good news. Lindsay hates the vets as well an trembles from the minute she arrives until the minute she leaves.
ReplyDeleteGood news about Arwen! I can appreciate the cowering in the corner at the Doctor's office - no need to feel bad, Arwen ;) She is looking pretty chill in the picture! Gosh, it is a worry though, isn't it! Glad that all is fine!
