For this Friday's Favorites, check out this new treasury I made - it even has a black cat, in honor of "lucky" Friday the 13! See it here in detail, and don't forget to comment! http://www.etsy.com/treasury/4dcd705e72988eef374772f8/friday-favorites-may-13

I thought I'd have an all animal treasury this week, as I haven't done that in a while. These are just a few of my (42 pages!) favorites. Be sure to give these artists some love :)

See you tomorrow with Saturday Squee, the Squee-est item of the week from Etsy!

I Get No Respect...

I tell you, I get no respect! I work all day at this new job (it is going well, thank you so much for all your well wishes), and after working hard to buy the doggy treats, I like to sit on my couch and read for a bit.

BUT! As soon as I get up, what happens? I get a couch thief stealing my quilt, the extra blanket put out just for her, and the WHOLE COUCH is taken up by a fuzzy, adorable dog! Honestly, I get no respect...

That being said, how can I possibly be cross with such a cute, fuzzy, adorable dog like her? She looks so comfy that I hate to disturb her, and that is where I lose the battle. She is cute and she knows it.

I'm enjoying some time with my mom right now, she is over for a few days and we are hanging out when I'm not working, so I'm sorry I haven't been blogging much. I hope you are all well and I am reading your blogs, even if I am not commenting :)

Thankful Thursday: A Dog With a Sense of Humor

She must have heard Brennan and I discussing how much we want to go and see the new Alice and Wonderland movie...she is doing her impersonation of the Cheshire Cat...er...dog. You have no idea how much I had to lighten this photo to get her to stand out from the background, she literally was blending in just like the Cheshire Cat would have.

Alice in Wonderland, eat your heart out :)

Incidentally, I had JUST cleaned the window when she decided to smush her nose all over it, trying to catch flies (one remnant of Gandalf's teaching). I am rather embarrassed that you can see the streaky nose marks on the window to be honest, it looks like I never clean my house, which I do, I swear!

Sorry for the short post today, but I have my CT scan for my tummy issues today, and we're rather pressed for time. See you soon!

The Great Spring Shed 2010, Day 2

Okay, it isn't Day 2 per se, she's been shedding for about a week already, but this was the second day of MAJOR fur loss - this was after only one side of her had been brushed, and I am having to Swiffer the house twice per day to keep it from having little tumble-furs every where (like tumble weed, but her fur). I'm getting about this much fur from my daily Swiffering as well. It is Nuts!

One thing I find interesting is that Arwen gets more sleepy and more hungry than usual during this time - perhaps the stress of shedding out one coat and growing a new one? I don't know, but I try to give her a little extra food without making her fat, and I always try to give her some fresh veggies or eggs or canned tuna juice to help her. Of course, it could also be that she is now spending a few hours per day outside in the warmer weather chasing squirrels and barking at the pheasants that come to our bird feeders (yes, we have 4 pheasants that come to our feeders, it is hilarious).

Until tomorrow, unless I've been covered in a sea of shiny black fur....

Arwednesdays with Arwen the Wonder Dog: Sleepy!

Arwen the Wonder Dog here, with some good news: my mommy got a part time job that lets her work from home! She is working for an IT company and I know that with the income she earns she'll buy me lots of treats! Okay, okay, she'll pay bills and adopt Polar Bears (see our Monday post), but I know treats will be in there too!

In the meantime I'm enjoying the warmer weather we are having now and staying outside as much as possible to chase squirrels...I mean, smell the air and enjoy the sunshine. When I'm inside, though, I pretty much nap all the time, preferably surrounded by my toys (the more the better). Mommy doesn't want to miss blogging to all of you, but we had to let you know just in case we are missing for a few days and you were wondering. Never fear, mommy is working to buy me treats and adopt polar bears...I just hope they don't sleep on my side of the bed!

That's all for now,

and Arwen

Arwednesdays With Arwen the Wonder Dog: Arwen Has an Outie!

Hey, it's me, Arwen the Wonder Dog, and today I'm showing you one of my unique features: my "outie" belly button! You can see it in the photo above, it is the little pink circle the arrow points to.
When I was a puppy, my mommy was a bit concerned by the little bump my "outie" makes, as this can mean that my doggy mommy had pulled away from me during the birth and pulling my umbilical cord, which can cause internal problems. My mommy wanted to make sure I was okay and took me to the vet. After the vet looked, she said it was fine, and that I would just have an "outie" and that I would be even more unique. I say, well of course I'm unique! I'm a wonder dog!

Mommy likes to tickle my belly button when she scratches my belly. I don't really care, as long as I'm getting attention and belly rubs!

Have a great Wednesday!

Arwendnesdays: Outtakes

With me being such a super star, it is no wonder we have many, many photos of my gorgeous self. What is odd, is that there are so many bloopers! I never thought mommy could get a bad photo of me, but there it is: we have some, and we thought we'd share them. The above shot is from mommy trying to get photos of me asleep on her bed. I had been very still but a bird flew by the window, chirping at a squirrel at one of our bird feeders. Needless to say, I wasn't sleeping after that! You can see me opening my eyes REALLY wide - so wide the white shows all around! I promptly got up and barked at the squirrel. It ran. I was proud.
Here mommy was getting photos of me playing with my crab. One of my favorite things to do is to flip onto my back and pretend that my toys are attacking me. Unfortunately the crab decided to cover my face in this shot and it looks like the crab is getting the upper hand..er..claw, rah rooh!
Here is mommy's favorite blooper to date. Daddy was taking photos of me opening my Christmas presents and when I talked a thank you (rah roooh roooh is the correct term), I tilted my head up in the air, and daddy got the shot...right up my nose! Unfortunately it isn't in focus..or, well, the background is, because daddy doesn't know how to use mommy's camera yet. Rah rooh!

We hope you enjoyed our bloopers, remember to enter the contest over at Fireseed.ca to try to win one of four fabulous prizes.

Have a great day!

Soulful Sunday: You Know it's Winter When Static Arrives

Arwen rolled over on the couch today and I heard that other telltale sign of winter...the static in her coat was unbelievable! Needless to say the humidifier is now on, but I thought this was a funny picture from http://ihasahotdog.com/ that tells the story of winter as dogs see it :)

Happy Sunday!

Arwendnesday: What Arwen Got For Christmas

Hello, it is me, Arwen the Wonder Dog here to show you more of my Christmas presents! Yesterday you saw me get to open my pressed rawhide bone, above, but now you get to see the rest of them!
Grand monna and Grand daddoo got me this squeaky orange standing toy. Mommy thinks it is hilarious, though no one else seems to think it is as funny as she does. It stands on its own two feet and is squeaky and rolls and bounces so I like it. Mommy says she is surprised I haven't destroyed it and left it a tattered mess of tiny pieces all throughout the house, but hey, mommy, I've only had it a few days and I've been pretty preoccupied with my other gifts you know!
I also got a box of some of my favorite treats. Mommy likes to make mine, but sometimes she treats me with these Wellness Wellbars. I like the peanut ones, but these are a different flavor - yogurt and apples and bananas - some of my favorite foods! I Looooove them....
Especially when mommy puts a smush (a technical treat word) of peanut butter in my Kong toy, and then seals it up with a few of those Wellbars treats!
I also got a Nylabone. Now, mommy doesn't like me chewing on plastic, but I am a VERY powerful chewer and these are the only things that last....for a bit. She even tried getting me one of those "Galileo" plastic bones...that are supposed to be indestructible...they aren't, though they did put a few good dents in mommy and daddy's nice hardwood floors (it's a good thing I'm cute, rah rooh!). Anyways, after the Galileo bone that was very expensive and was, in fact, destructible, mommy went back to the Nylabones in the hard plastic. Mommy got it in chicken flavor ("How do they make plastic taste like chicken?"..."I don't know mommy, I'm a dog!") and I also loooove it! Thank you mommy, daddy and grand monna and grand daddoo for my Christmas presents! Spending time with you would have been enough, but I sure am not going to lie and say I don't like presents, because I do, a rooh rooh rooh!

Have a great day efurrybuddy!

Sweet Saturday: Playing in the Snow

As the Official Doggy Blogger for this blog, I am taking over today as mommy writes the grocery list...hey mommy?? Don't forget the treats for my pawesome self! Now, as part Husky, and all Wonder Dog, you should know that I love the snow...come on mommy! Play in the snow with me!
Here I am, trying to chase the snow under mommy's feet. She always laughs really hard at this, because I try to dig at the snow under her shoes and boots quite furiously. I do, however, like it best when people throw snowballs up into the air for me to run after and catch with my teeth. Too bad this snow wasn't warm enough...when mommy tried to make snowballs, it just stayed as powder.
I love the snow so much I get covered in it as much as possible before coming back inside! Mommy stayed at the back door to take most of these photos, as we were having a big snow storm and it was very cold and windy (to her at least, I felt nothing in my thick, beautiful, shining furs!).
Another thing I like to do is stick my head in the snow. I like to stick it right down to try and sniff any moles, voles, mice, squirrels, or anything else that might be hidden under there. I sometimes bury my head right down until it is covered by the snow! Then I jerk my head up and stand on three legs. Here you can see I was eating some snow, as is evidenced by my snowy beard. Never fear! I'm still a girl! I just like getting covered in snow, rah rooh!
Here mommy caught me with a face full of snow. Sometimes, if the snow is warm enough, I get a little snow ball stuck on the tip of my nose, which never fails to put mommy into hysterics. I don't see what the big deal is, I'm just playing!

I hope you have a fun Saturday, but as for me, I am off to run around some more in the snow!

Arwednesdays with Arwen the Wonder Dog: Putting Up the Tree

Hello everyone! It's me, Arwen the Wonder dog, and welcome to an instructional day...I am putting up the tree! Here I am in the living room, with all of the boxes of stuff. Okay, so mommy had to move the furniture a bit for me, and she brought up the boxes, but I told her where to put them. Come on mommy, we need to put up the tree or Santa won't leave me cookies!
Now, we use an artificial tree for fire safety, cat safety (when he was alive), and because it is more environmentally friendly than cutting down trees every year. The only challenge is that I have to put the tree sections together! How do these things go again mommy? Oh yes, I had mommy plug in the remote sensor and extension cord, and put a piece of foam on the floor to protect it. We have a remote for the sensor so that we don't have to reach behind the tree when we want it turned on. Thank daddy for that one, he's always up for fun technology!
Here is the tree, all ready for decorating. Mommy has to help with this part - my paws don't grip the tiny hooks and I also can't reach the top of the tree without jumping on it...which mommy does NOT want me to do! We are fortunate that our tree is already pre-lit so that I don't have to go around it, getting fake pine needles in my paws. What a relief!
After several hours of mommy being rather obsessive-compulsive ("I can't put that burgundy one there, there is another burgundy one close to it!"), and my careful snoopervising, the tree is decorated in gold and burgundy, with many ornaments given to us by grand monna and grand daddoo. I like the tree skirt - I think it still smells a bit like Gandalf. I also like the dog ornament that mommy got just for me...I don't mind that it isn't the right color (it is brown, I am black!), as long as I am on the tree!
Merry Christmas!!

and Arwen
